Looking fantastic 2012

The year 2012 has started and guys we are on the roll. Nea and I spent Christmas and New Years in South East Asia promoting GlobeOut all the way. During our month of traveling we realised how important GlobeOut will be for all sorts of travellers around the world. Even we ourselves found that our application would have been very useful in all the places we visited in different situations. Now we have found more and more potential users for the future social travel game. This is fantastic news, to be said. Unfortunately, two members of GTP Group decided to work on some other projects and are no longer serving us. They did a great job and we wish them all the best for the future. Thank you girl.

We started our new semester off by reading different kinds of news concerning GlobeOut and its future. One of the main points we came across with was the fact that everything will be getting more game-like during 2012 so we are on the right path. In this industry it is important to be a head of time and updated with the latest news and happenings and this is what we are aiming to do daily as much as possible.

Our university offered us a chance for a two day course called Boot Camp. It was held near Padasjoki, Finland in a nice surrounding in the woods. There were also students from other campuses with their own business ideas. The two days last week were really interesting as we made new contacts and learned more about pitch-talks. We also got new ideas on how to develop our idea and make it more understandable for others. These are important things for us which need to be worked on constantly.

This week we started off by meeting our teachers and making three different kinds of sheets to help us schedule our weeks and the whole future in general. Now our aim is to get a demo-version done by May so at this point we are looking for a coder. We set ourselves two weeks to find a possible coder to work with us. We contacted a few different universities which could be interested such as HAAGA-HELIA Pasila University of Applied Sciences, Metropolia University of Applied Sciences, Kajaani University of Applied Sciences and Tampere University of Applied Sciences. Next week we have a meeting with one of the teachers from Pasila Campus. This is really important for us and GlobeOut and we are really excited.

My dad owns his own company and I attended to their annual general meeting this week to learn more about running a company. It was really interesting and I learned a lot. I have never really thought how important the accountants’ job is in general. One of the things I learned was that the past needs to be clear for everybody involved for the future to be good.

All the companies, which’ turnover in a year is 10 million euros or under, are considered as small businesses. Now there is a new law set for these companies saying that they won’t need an accountant. This will complicate the calculations in all these businesses including our own. However, it is not said that a business is not allowed to have one so I really hope people will understand the risk here and think about the consequences. All the companies will need someone professional to take care of it moneywise. This future law will not only effect on small businesses making stupid mistakes but also on the profession itself as it seems that eventually it will die away. I don’t think we will be dumb enough to make this mistake as the money spent on an accountant is worth it.

This week was very good and even though there are only three of us left, I feel like we got quite a bit done concerning the future. We are working our way to the top. We’ll send you a postcard once we get there!

Have a super fantastic next week!
